I worked with Steve at Wilson Foods in the bacon department. He was such nice gentleman and it was great to work with him. God received another angel and RIP Steve! My condolences to all of his family!!
Stephen Douglas Gifford, 72 of Lafayette passed away at 12:58 AM on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at St Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born on December 4, 1948 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Donald Joseph and Mary Umbarger Gifford.
After graduating from Logansport High School in 1968, Stephen went on to serve in the U.S. Navy. He was retired from REA Magnet Wire. On May 15, 2004, he married Vicki Summers-Shultz and she survives. His hobbies included reading the bible, watching westerns, history, genealogy, listening to gospel music, and spending time at Cracker Barrel.
He is survived by his son Trent Gifford of Lafayette, IN. Also surviving are step-children Toby (Krista) Shultz of Lafayette, Adam (Ashley) Shultz of Lafayette, sister Linda Wiman of Sarasota, FL, brother Joseph (Jane) Gifford of Logansport, 2 grandsons, 4 granddaughters, 3 nieces, and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother David Gifford, and one stepson, Joseph Shultz.
Services will be held on Saturday March 27,2021 at the Lighthouse Baptist Church located at 1730 E 450 S in Lafayette, Indiana with Pastor William B. Murdock officiating. Visitation will begin at 9 AM with service immediately following at 10 AM. Burial with military rites will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Lafayette, IN.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made toward his final expenses.
Tippecanoe Funeral and Cremation Services is assisting in the arrangements.
