With deepest sympathy at this time to Shari and Art. We had the State Farm Insurance connection and Art was my basketball coach in Jr hs. I have known the Mitchell family many years and my heart goes out to the family. Prayers

    Shari,

I read the obituary this morning in the Bloomington Pantagraph. We are sorry to hear that Doris died. We have known her and your dad since 1970. We lived across Maintou Drive from your family from 1970-74. Your mother was our older son, Jason’s, first babysitter. He would cry and cry when I dropped him off and I felt so guilty. Your mom told me he stopped the minute the door closed so one morning we conducted an experiment. I waited outside the door and sure enough, the minute the door closed he was off down the stairs with you to play. We both laughed about that.
I was going to school at Purdue and Steve was working at State Farm with your dad. They used to ride to work together with two other men…one was named Ed I think.
Do you remember in the summer you used to come to our house to “swim” with Jason in our backyard wading pool and have snacks? It has been a long time but we have fond memories of your mom and dad. Please convey our sympathies to your father. Susan and Steve Kern, Bloomington, Illinois

    Shari and Art,
Sending our condolences on the passing of Doris.
I know this is a difficult time for you and am so sorry we are not able to be there with you. We wanted to be there but due to illness after we returned from our vacation we felt it was better to be safe and not pass it on to anyone. I have good memories of spending time with Doris with our “women’s group” over the years. She alway added life to the gathering. In particular we enjoyed the summer get togethers at the lake where the men joined us. This was always a fun time and gave us all time to get better acquainted.
Doris will be missed and we know you are going through a difficult time now. We pray that your many good memories of time with Doris will stay with you and bring you comfort and peace.

    Art and Shari,
We are so very sorry on the passing of Doris. remembering the fun times we had at Grandma & Grandpa Wilson’s . In later years, Doris has been the one keeping us updated on things happening with the cousins. Before COVID, once a month cousins would meet at Jason’s Deli in Bloomington for lunch and talk..A few months back she had started the cousins getting together again at Linda’s in Towanda. Those times of our being together will be greatly missed. Doris, you will be missed. To all of your family, our love and prayers.
