Arnold Eugene Robbins, 87 of Lafayette was called home by his Savior at 2am on Wednesday December 6,2023 at Rosewalk Village of Lafayette. He had been a resident of Rosewalk Village since July of 2022, where he received excellent care from an exceptional and caring staff. He was born March 30,1936 at Wolcott to the late Roscoe Emerson and Dortha Bell Fife Robbins His marriage to Pauline Lois Kyte was June 25,1963 in Lafayette She preceded him in death February 28,2003. He was a 1954 graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School. Upon graduating high school Arnold began a career in Foodservice where he excelled. He was mostly self taught and became an executive chef. He won the Indiana’s Chef of the year in 1969 while employed at the Highland Golf and Country Club. He was President of the Indiana Chef’s association in 1970 and taught culinary arts. In the late 70s he switched careers and became an electrician through the apprenticeship of Rostone Plastics Corporation. He later began his own independent electrical service, before retiring. Having become a Christian later in life, his relationship with Jesus was very important to him. He was a Charter member of Berean Baptist Church in Lafayette.
Surviving are his children Robert “Terry” Slavens of Lafayette, Pamela (David) Moyer-Bristow of Milton, IL, Roger (Kim) Slavens of Jacksonville, FL, Tracey (Kim) Holt of West Point, and Summer (Tom) Woodruff of Lafayette. Also surviving his children are 15 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren and 6 Great Great Grandchildren. Surviving with his loved ones, is his very dear sweet friend Ms. Irene Hensley. He was preceded in death by his children Sherry Jo Cox, Steve Eugene Robbins, Brian K Robbins, and granddaughter Tammy Lynn Robbins and his siblings Charles Emmitt Robbins, Alma May Henson, Esther Joan Darling, and Glenn Ray Robbins.
A celebration of Arnold’s life is being planned for December 30, 2023 at Berean Baptist Church in Lafayette. Visitation will be held from 9:00am-11:00am A service will begin at 11:00am officiated by Pastor Brent Floyd of Berean Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Berean Baptist Church Deacons Fund or a charity of your choice.
