Varshon “Buddah” Deriel Lewis, 38, passed away on January 2, 2022, in Lafayette, IN. He was born November 2, 1983, in Chicago, IL, to Vincent Cecil Thomas and Vita Dushon (Lewis) Stokes. He was raised by his mother in Lafayette, and was a graduate of Jefferson High School. He later met Brittany (Mitchell) Lewis, and married the love of his life on November 29, 2017. Varshon worked for much of his life in Security detail for events. He had a genuine heart, and would do anything for his family and friends. He loved cooking, eating, dancing, watching movies, listening to music and singing, was a competitive Monopoly player, devoted wrestling fan, playing pool with friends, helping people, and giving out Buddah hugs to anyone who needed one. He especially loved all of “his babies” including nieces, nephews, and friends, who will all miss him very much.
Varshon is survived by his wife, Brittany Lewis; mother, Vita Stokes; father, Vincent Thomas; sister, Verynthia Lewis; sister, Arkia Thomas-Johnson; aunt, Cynthia (Terrance) Lewis-Bailey; cousin, Malcom Beavers; mother-in-law, Kathy Baker; nephews, Morgan, Nehemiah, Josiah, ThaLuke, Levi, and Zion; nieces, Halo, Honey, Voicy, and Sincere; as well as many other nieces, nephews, and family.
He was preceded in death by his Grampy, Carrie Barclay; step-father, Earl Bolden; both grandfathers, and his favorite cousin, Cie Dymaya Ortiz.
Services for Varshon will be held Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at 11:00 am, at Second Baptist Church, 2925 S 18th St, Lafayette, IN 47909, with visitation from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the church. Burial to follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Online condolences can be left to the family at www.tippecanoememorygardens.com.
