Maurice Ray “Skip” Shore

Maurice Ray “Skip” Shore, 84, of West Lafayette passed away at Franciscan Health East Hospital in
Lafayette at 1:05 am on Thursday March 16, 2023. He was born February 24, 1939, in Frankfort to the
late Raymond and Tamar Hopkins Shore. He was a 1957 graduate of Jackson High School at Antioch
and had attended Indiana University. On April 14,1958 he married Sue Beeker. Skip was a claims
adjuster and manager of the claim’s office at Lafayette for Farm Bureau Insurance. Skip was an amazing
bowler who was inducted into the Indiana Bowling Hall of Fame in 1994. He loved bowling with his
children and grandchildren, he loved teaching them how to play. Skip had also coached a youth league.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge at Frankfort, Gideons International, and served as a deacon at
the Community Reformed Church of Lafayette. He enjoyed dancing, gardening, landscaping, boating,
and was a sharp-eyed card player. He loved attending Joyful Journey in West Lafayette and made many
special friends there.
He married Barbara Fritchie in Lafayette on January 1,1982 and she survives. Also surviving are his
daughters Debbi Wainscott of Otterbein, Vicki Shore of Fowler, Sherri (Denny) VanWanzeele of
Otterbein, Gini Hoinaes of Lafayette. Stepsons Jeffrey (Suzanne) Tewell of Crossville, TN and Timothy
Tewell of Pikeville,TN, grandchildren Amanda (Jason) Massey of OH, Nathan Wainscott of OH, Seth
VanWanzeele of Otterbein, Tyler (Baileigh) VanWanzeele of Otterbein, Cole Hoinaes of West Lafayette,
Mara Hoinaes of Lafayette, Nikki Tewell of TN, James Tewell of New Orleans, LA, John Tewell of TN,
Heather Tewell of Cookville, TN, Brooke Tewell and Aly Tewell of TN, Amber Tewell of TN and great-
grandchildren Sammy, Jacob, Zander, Izzy, Ella, and Kaden. He was preceded in death by his sister
Margaret.
Friends may call on Thursday March 23,2023 at the Community Reformed Church 2501 S 18 th St
Lafayette from 5p to 8pm and one hour prior to the 11 am funeral service on Friday March 24,2023.
Pastor Mark Withers will officiate and burial will follow in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette,
IN.
