Hattie B. (Frazier) Johnson, of Lafayette, Indiana, was called to her heavenly home, on November 2, 2023 and departed from this life at the age of 71. She was born on January 2, 1952, in Tchula, Mississippi, to the late Willie and Annie McDowell and was one of 12 children of the McDowell household. She graduated from Velma Jackson High School in Pickings, Mississippi, and she was a devote member of New Life House of Prayer in Lafayette, Indiana where she loved to attend to hear her sister, Geraldine Cadwallder officiate and preach the message of the Lord.
She was an old fashioned country girl who liked the simple things in life: she loved to fish and cleaned and fixed whatever she caught, enjoyed cookouts, liked to travel (as long as it wasn’t too far from home), watching free movies and TV on Tubi, finding bargains at thrift stores, enjoyed going to casinos, going shopping at Pay Less and Walmart Supermarkets, having family dinners on holidays and special occasions and just enjoying and spending time with her family. She was a fun loving person who will be greatly missed as a loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and dear friend.
Hattie is survived by her 5 children; Alonzo Frazier of Kokomo, IN, Ruby Jean Johnson of Lafayette, IN, Dennis Ray Johnson of Lafayette, IN, Sandra Johnson of Lafayette, IN, and Angela Johnson also of Lafayette, IN. 7 siblings; Eugene “Fox” Frazier of Chicago, IL, Shirley Stedmond of Dalton, GA, Pastor Geraldine Cadwalleder (Jerry) of Lafayette, IN, Mattie Sistrunk (Kelly) of Gary, IN, Queen Williams of Lafayette, IN, Leon Frazier of Lafayette, IN and Jesse Scales (Margaret) also of Lafayette, IN. 10 grandchildren; Dashanna Johnson of Lafayette, IN, Ashley Johnson of Chicago, IL, Zion Johnson of Chicago, IL, Robert Sizemore of Lafayette, IN, Mikayla Frazier of Atlanta, GA, Kameron McLean of Lafayette, IN, Destiny Johnson of Lafayette, IN, Telisa Wheatley of Lafayette, IN, Teresa Wheatley of Lafayette, IN Dominique Williams of Indianapolis, IN and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to Hattie’s parents, she was preceded in death by 4 siblings; Robert Scales, Wardell Clay, Katie Ashbury and Percy Driver, Sr.
