Frances (Smith) Huff, age 98, passed away peacefully at 10:45 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 2024, what would have been her 72nd wedding anniversary. Frances was born to Versa and Jacob Smith on May 29, 1926, in Sullivan, Indiana. On August 30, 1952, she married the love of her life, Darrell Duane Huff. Together, they spent 69 wonderful years nurturing their family and cherishing the growth of their children and grandchildren.
Frances had a deep love for flowers, yard work, and gardening, finding joy in the beauty of nature. She was also a talented singer whose voice brought comfort and joy to many. Above all, Frances was a devoted mother who was incredibly proud of her family, always putting their needs first and filling their lives with love. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Frances is survived by her daughters, Danetta K. (Ronald Dean) Rice Kelly and Cynthia J. ( “Dick”) Rice Smith; sons, Darrell Joe (Janie) Huff, Tim Huff, and Tony (Betsy) Huff; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren; and two siblings, Howard Smith, and Roseann Pallas.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Duane Huff; her parents, Versa and Jacob Smith; Frances’ first husband, Daniel Rice; daughter, Diane Rice; and three siblings.
Family and friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Tippecanoe Funeral Chapel, 3631 Morehouse Road, West Lafayette, Indiana.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Tippecanoe Funeral Chapel, 3631 Morehouse Road, West Lafayette, Indiana. Burial will follow.
