Erin Michelle Geist, 29, of Nevada, passed away Friday, November 25, 2022, following a year-
long battle with cancer.
Erin was born on November 9, 1993, in Freeport, IL, the daughter of Thomas Michael and
Cathleen Lynne (Danruther) Geist. Following high school graduation, she earned her associate’s
degree from Marshalltown Community College, and her bachelor’s degree (magna cum laude) in
Event Management from Iowa State University.
Erin enjoyed working for the last two years as the Catering Manager for the Lincoln Center Hy-
Vee in Ames. She excelled at her job and had a knack for organizing events. Erin had a strong
Christian faith and loved to eat Mexican food. She especially enjoyed spending time with her
family and friends.
Erin is survived by her parents, Tom and Cathy Geist of Nevada, IA; her sister, Hannah (Justin)
Friedel of Kansas City, MO; her paternal grandmother, Marilyn Geist of West Lafayette, IN; her
aunts and uncles, Teresa (Randall) Bramer of Oxford, IN, and Rick (Debbie) Danruther of Rancho
Cucamonga, CA. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Earl Geist; her
maternal grandparents, Jack and Carol Danruther; and two brothers in infancy, Caleb and Joel
Geist.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wings of Refuge or IJM
(International Justice Mission) in memory of Erin.
Services for Erin will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, December 2, 2022 at Tippecanoe Funeral Chapel in West Lafayette,
with visitation from 11:00 am until the time of service. Interment to follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette.
