D. Lynn Simler, 78, passed away on July 12, 2021. He was born on March 25, 1943, to Thomas Simler and Marge (Nicoson) Simler in Lafayette, Indiana. After completing his education, he worked for many years as a licensed plumber with Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 157. He married his loving wife, Karen (Lancaster) Simler, on August 28, 1971, and they have been happily married for 49 years.
Lynn had many joys in life; he was a hard worker, enjoyed social events, and was the type of person who never knew a stranger. He was known for his kindness and willingness to help anyone who needed it, and by the joy he brought to his family and many friends he knew over the years.
Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas (Marge) Simler; his brothers, Thomas Simler, and Bob Simler; and his sister, Pequetti Bowkamp.
Lynn is survived by his wife, Karen Simler; daughter, Debbie (Paul) Simler-Goff; grandchildren, Paul, Jeremy, Stephanie, and Joshua; several great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends in Naples, Florida and in Lafayette, IN.
Visitation for Lynn will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2021, from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens Funeral Chapel with funeral services to follow immediately at 3:00 PM at the chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made in Lynn’s memory to the St. James Lutheran Church, 800 Cincinnati St., Lafayette, IN 47901.
